This young actress/singer was born in Mexico on August 26 1971 in the hospital Español in the enormous city of Mexico. Her full name is Ariadna Thalia Sodi Miranda. Will she change her name to Thalia Mottola because she got married? No..she continues to be simply Thalia, or Thalia Sodi at Kmart.
She is the fifth child in her family ,blessed with all female siblings; she is the baby. When she was young she loved to play sports with the boys more than she liked to play dolls with the girls. She was and still is a fun person to be with. She used to like climbing trees, wearing torn up jeans, and doing everything that the boys did- The typical tomboy. But over the years, Thalia has changed into the "Reina de Telenovelas," A gorgeous voluptuous female with astounding natural beauty.

Her artistic career began when she was merely a child. After participating in many musical festivals for children, she was accepted into a group called Vaselina(1984), and then integrated with the teen-pop group Timbiriche . At first, she was part of the back-up singers but then to her luck, she got to be the main singer in the group.

Luis de Llano invited Thalia so that she could officially be part of Timbiriche when Sasha left the group. In September of 1986 she made her "debut" with Timbiriche and immediately had people hooked.
She recorder "Timbiriche VII, VIII y IX " with the group.

In December of 1989 she said her good-byes to the group Timbiriche; she was preparing herself as a solo artist. Alfredo Diaz Ordaz produced her first three hit albums named "Thalia", "Mundo De Cristal" and "Love". They maintained a close relationship that almost lead her to the alter but unfortunately he past away while filming her second soap opera, "Marimar." His death brought pain and suffering to Thalia during this dark period of her life.

Throughout the years, Thalia has combined her career as a singer with her acting
abilities in order to make her smashing hit telenovelas:

In 1995, her professional life gave a twist of fate. Her record label became EMI MUSIC MEXICO. Her first album recorded with them was "En Extasis" which was produced by Emilio Estefan and Oscar Lopez. "Piel Morena" a song included in her CD "En Extasis" reached the #1 spot for several weeks.

In 1996 and 1997 were years of victory and triumph for Thalia. Her telenovelas and "En Extasis" took her around the world where she was well received by all of her fans. This album broke records in 20 countries, making it able for her to win "discos de oro y platino" for her CD's being sold in Central America. USA, Mexico, and South America.

In June of '97 she released, Amor A La Mexicana. It was recorded under the production of Emilio Estefan, Roberto Blades and Mario Pupparo. There are 10 tracks in the US version and 13 tracks in the Mex. version.
On a windy night of the 2nd of December 2000, Thalia exchanged vows with Thomas D. Mottola in St. Patricks cathedral in New York City. May their happiness last forever.
It seems that the years 2000 and 2001 have been Thalia's best years. In 2000, she released her new "baby," the Arrasando CD. A CD composed of 12 smashing new hits.

Then once more, Thalia does it again. Thalia releases her Banda CD everyone has been waiting for. Thalia-Grandes Exitos en Banda contains previous hits with from EMI Latin years. Two new songs "Cuco Pena" and "La Revancha" show Thalia can pretty much sing any music genre she wishes, for she has the ability to do so.

In 2002 Thalia still has all the media's attention. She performed LIVE on the Rosie O'Donnell television show. News and her latest CD "Thalia" spread like crazy world-wide. Currently Thalia enjoys her married life either in her new home in Miami FL, or in New York, where her and Tommy met.

In September of 2002 she "wowed" the United States television viewers with her LIVE performance of her hit, "No me Ensenaste." Thalia continues her astounding musical career at the moment. She prefers to give a little more attention to her musical career at this point in her life.

For Thalia, 2003 and 2004 have been a success. This year of 2004, Thalia toured the western hemisphere in the month of May presenting herself in the "Thalia: High Voltage" concert sponsored by Hersheys. Thalia has also launched her self-titled magazine and the response has been incredible. In addition, her concert series sponsor, Hersheys, has Thalia's image appearing everywhere as the new spokeswoman for Hershey's chocolate. Yet another project is her "Thalia Sodi" brand name exclusively for kmart. As Thalia runs into a bit of trouble with the Kmart brand of Thalia Sodi jewelry in CA, and is rumored to have been robbed of $1 million worth of Jewelry while vacationing in Italy, Thalia appears on national television stronger than ever.
